Maruti Suzuki Celerio Overview
Launched in February 2014, the Celerio has played a pivotal role in strengthening Maruti Suzuki’s position in the entry-level hatchback segment in India. The car has received its mid-life update in 2017 and with a few changes to the exterior and the interior, it has now become a petrol-only car after ditching the 2-cylinder diesel mill. Its silhouette has all the elements of the small Suzuki hatchback language, but the fascia and the design is completely new. The front design is part of Suzuki’s new design language with a curved mesh grille connecting the headlamps. The headlamp console and the front bumper have been reworked, giving it a modern feel while the chrome strip on the grille gives it a premium look.
Both the shoulder-line and waist-line are bold, but they don’t add much value to this small car. The top-end variant gets a nice set of alloy-wheels. The rear is typical Maruti with the tail lamp cluster similar to that of the bigger siblings. There are multiple horizontal lines here that actually make the car look more compact from this angle.Inside, the top-spec Celerio gets beige and black upholstery, Bluetooth enabled music system and electric OVRMs. On the safety front, optional features include ABS and dual front airbags. Two passengers can comfortably sit at the back during a long journey, the third passenger won’t have too many issues during short rides.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio Design & Style
At first look, Celerio appears broad and bold in styling. Bold clear lens headlights combined with lengthier chrome grill with Suzuki emblem is the main attraction. The front bumper is broad and has space for fog lamps.Black grill is beautifully placed with space between each grill to enable easier flow of air. The counters used on the bonnet shell gives a updated look than a plane look. Side body panel is given good lot of attention with introduction of contours running from top of rear side panel to front fender.
The wheel arches are given fine finishing. The door window panels are almost as good as in the earlier version and won’t make much difference. Outer rear view mirrors are provided with side indicators in top end variant ie ZXI. The tail door panel is almost same as earlier version i.e. A star. The difference being name tag, glossy effect colours, slight variation in tail lamp design.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio Cabin & Comfort
Get inside the car you will be greeted by a familiar Maruti cabin. The same dual beige and black combination has now tweaked to make a new combination black and griege, which is a mix of grey and beige. The silver accents have been spread through the cabin. The seats also get the same griege colour while the door trim features new design and side air-con vents having silver accents.
The touchscreen infotainment which is the most sought-after things today is still missing, however, you do get a top-notch music system that offers USB, Bluetooth, and Aux-In support. The three-pod instrument cluster features speedometer, tachometer and a multi-function display that gives you all the vehicle info including mileage, distance to empty, etc. The artificial leather-wrapped steering wheel has been picked up from elder sibling Swift. It also houses controls for audio and calls.Other features in the car include rear parcel shelf, power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, tilt-adjustable steering, 60:40 split rear seat split, rear wash/wipe, and a rear defogger.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio Engine & Performance
The Maruti hatch gets a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder K-Series petrol mill, which is capable of delivering the max power of 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to five-speed manual transmission while the automatic transmission gets four speed options. The EZ Drive of Maruti is considerably the major highlight of the model. The advance K-Next engine combined with the drive by wire serves better torque delivery and a whooping fuel economy. To know more details on Maruti Suzuki Celerio visit Bpas
The peppier drive is supported by the EZ technology and an innovative transmission fitted inside the car. The auto gearshift, also termed as automated manual transmission, is an incredible technology used within the new hatch. It ultimately gives the feel of an automatic transmission vehicle and provides better comfort with the gear shift. Basically, the hydraulic system imbibed in the car allows shifting gears without using a clutch and this can be done either sequentially or fully automatically.
Maruti Celerio delivers an impressive mileage of 23.1 kmpl, which is certainly commendable given the market it takes on. Such fuel-efficient hatch is definitely going to be a hit among the Indian buyers. In terms of economy, it is the Celerio that stretches each litre of petrol to the furthest. The new automatic hatch is more fuel efficient with an increase of over 5 percent of the total fuel efficiency than its regular manual version. With this, Maruti brings an amazing hatch, which is going to show tough times to other brands in the segment.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio Ride & Handling
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has only one engine option – a 998 cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that puts out a modest power of 67 bhp. The power output might sound underwhelming but it is more than sufficient for city commutes and daily drives, essentially the type of driving that this car is designed for. Maruti Suzuki has taken the old K10 engine out of the Alto and made a whole bunch of modifications to it. The resultant of all that work is the K10B engine and it is a significant improvement over its predecessor. This engine has good power and is reasonably silent at the lower end of the rev range, but at higher revs, it does get rather loud. For more information on car loans check Fincarz.
The aspect of the car with the highest amount of hype surrounding it is the new 5-speed automated manual transmission, which Maruti Suzuki refers to as “EZ Drive.” This gearbox can be thought of as a regular automatic gearbox, in the sense that there is no clutch pedal and the selector lever looks very similar to a conventional automatic transmission; however, it differs because it uses electronically-controlled hydraulic actuators to shift up and down through gears. This provides for effortless driving and no matter how jammed up the roads are, you can navigate through them like a breeze.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio Braking & Safety
The car’s brake pedal possesses a sharp bite that comes from the ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the back. The vehicle comes to halt cleanly without waves and twisting much. The safety feature list includes driver side airbag and seat belt warning as standard across the range while front passenger side airbag and ABS are optional across the variants. The carmaker has also updated the vehicle to meet the Indian safety regulations in term of pedestrian safety and side impact regulations.
